People are putting a North Carolina eatery in check after they posted a strict dress code.

Kim’s Kafe, a soul food restaurant in Greensboro, posted its rules regarding what people are not allowed to wear when visiting, saying that it “has been in place all summer.”

Their dress code, according to their Facebook post, includes:

    • No shorts

    • No leggings
    • No T-straps
    • No white T-shirts

    • No cleavage showing

“All we ask is that people respect our dress code as they do everyone else business,” the post said. “People are not leaving anything for the imagination much now days [sic] so our dress code is strict.”

Attorney David Daggett addressed the situation, telling WCNC Charlotte that the rules are legal “as long as it’s not discriminatory” and it’s the same for all patrons.

“The example I’ve used before when my kids asked me about this is, I don’t like people who wear blue shirts. If I don’t want people in my business that wear blue shirts, I can do that as long as I’m refusing everybody with blue shirts, not selecting people based on a discriminatory basis,” Daggett explained.
