Two dead after Belt Parkway crash, NYC cops say

Two people were killed following a crash on the Belt Parkway in Queens Saturday that left their car split in half, police said.

The unidentified victims are a 29-year-old woman and 35-year-old man, cops said.

The tragedy unfolded around 3:45 a.m. when a Dodge Challenger traveling westbound on the Belt Parkway in the vicinity of Spingfield Boulevard rearended a Mazda CX5, authorities said.

The Dodge, in which both victims were riding, appeared to lose control before striking a pole, police said.

The woman died at the scene. 

The man was rushed to Jamaica Medical Center in critical condition but could not be saved, authorities said.

The driver of the Mazda, a 32-year-old woman, was not hurt, cops said.

The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the crash.
