Smoke from the wildfires raging in Canada is causing hazardous air quality in the NYC area, forcing cancellation or postponement of outdoor activities ranging from school recess all the way up to the Gotham FC-Orlando Pride NWSL game at Red Bull Arena and the Yankees-White Sox game at Yankee Stadium – and even an indoor event?

Indeed, as the WNBA announced just after 4:30 p.m. that tonight’s game between the Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty at Barclays Center has been “postponed due to the air quality issues impacting the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and the greater New York area following the wildfires in Canada.”

Per Howard Megdal of The Next Sports, smoky air has entered Barclays Center due to the conditions outside, leading to an unhealthy air quality inside the building that forced the postponement.
