Trans-Bridge Lines has added more drivers, so it can now add more bus runs to New York City and more destinations to places such as New Hope and Flemington, according to a news release.

“This is something we’ve been wanting to do for some time now,” said Tom JeBran, president of the Bethlehem-based bus lines.

Changes include:

  • Two new Allentown-to-New York City runs at 6 a.m.
  • Two new New York City-to-Allentown runs.
  • New stop locations on some routes to allow for quicker arrival times.
  • Some routes that were offered on Friday only are now offered Monday through Friday.
  • Two new runs leave for Wall Street for commuters who need a later arrival to Lower Manhattan and a later return. The runs will operate Monday through Thursday.

By popular demand, Trans-Bridge will resume weekend service from New York to Doylestown/Flemington, the news release says.

“We have several New York passengers who use the routes to travel to areas like New Hope for leisure and recreation and weekend getaways,” said Trans-Bridge Director of Operations Mark Ertel. “They relied on this service in the past, and we are proud to reinstate it into our schedules after a seven-month hiatus.”

Trans-Bridge is also bringing back pier transportation to Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, New Jersey, the release says.

“We have received hundreds of email messages inquiring about its return over the past few years,” said Trans-Bridge Communications Manager Jennifer Lechiski.

It’s one of the many routes Trans-Bridge temporarily cut due to the nationwide shortage of bus drivers, according to the news release. But Trans-Bridge now has drivers trained and ready to go, the release says.

The pier line is reservation-based. It also serves the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. The schedule coincides with the cruise lines’ itinerary times to cruise ports. The pier bus leaves from Lehigh Valley International Airport and the Clinton, New Jersey, Park and Ride.

“This latest round of schedule changes is our biggest since the pandemic and the result of passenger requests and travel trends,” JeBran said.

JeBran said the bus industry has changed forever since the COVID-19 pandemic, but the new runs and schedules “make our employees excited for the future and motivated for what we can accomplish in the future for our customers.”

“We are thankful for the opportunity for growth,” he said.

Founded in 1941, Trans-Bridge Lines offers daily bus service to New York City and Newark Airport from the Lehigh Valley and Clinton, New Jersey, as well as weekday service to Wall Street.
