The Knicks won 47 games and a playoff series. That wasn’t enough to save their general manager’s job.

Perry has served as Knicks GM since 2017, surviving the firing of former team president Steve Mills to work under team president Leon Rose. In fact, he received two contract extensions since the team hired Rose, but that was reportedly due to the new regime’s desire to “smooth the transition”.
Now, the team feels confident they no longer need Perry, who previously worked for the Pistons, where he helped Joe Dumars build a championship team, as well as Seattle and Orlando. He’s the definition of an old pro, but the Rose administration wants their own guy.
Will that be Bob Myers, the Warriors GM who stepped down earlier Tuesday? Newsday reporter Steve Popper threw cold water on that idea.
I don't want to be the one to spoil dreams, but no, this is not bringing Bob Myers to the Knicks.

That’s because the Knicks already have a powerful decision maker in Rose, the former agent who used to represent LeBron James and helped facilitate the “Heatles” team-up of James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami.
Combined with Rose lieutenant William “Worldwide Wes” Wesley and hands-on owner James Dolan, there’s simply a lot of voices in the Knicks front office already.
And with the Knicks armed with extra draft picks and appealing young players for once, Rose and company have the ammunition to potentially add a superstar this summer. Thanks in part to Perry, the Knicks are a more attractive destination than they’ve been in years.
Who might take over? Keep an eye on Knicks senior advisor Gersson Rosas, who was formerly the GM of the Minnesota Timberwolves — and the Dallas Mavericks GM for three months in 2013. If the Knicks don’t want to make a splashy hire, Rosas is a likely, easy internal hire.
