NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A 69-year-old woman was sucker punched by a man while riding a subway train in Long Island City, police said Thursday as they released surveillance footage of the suspect.
The victim was aboard a Manhattan-bound E train approaching Queens Plaza shortly before 1 p.m. last Friday when a man slugged her unprovoked.
The 30-something-year-old assailant struck her once in the head and then ran away, police said.
She suffered minor injuries and was transported by EMS to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
It's not the only random attack on a woman on the E line recently. On Sunday, a 35-year-old designer was shoved into an E train on the Upper East Side by a stranger, leaving her "instantly paralyzed" and fighting for her life, prosecutors said Wednesday at the arraignment for her suspected attacker.
In that case, both the victim and the suspect boarded an E train in Queens and got off at the Lexington Avenue–63rd Street station, where the victim was pushed into the train in an unprovoked attack, prosecutors said.
