Baseball returned after four months away and fans went all out to make the most of MLB's Opening Day.

An Aaron Judge home run , a stellar performance from Shohei Ohtani and the classic grub - hotdogs. It was like the sport had never been away.

Eyes were on the Bronx as Judge's New York Yankees welcomed the San Francisco Giants - a team he nearly signed in the offseason - and the fans were ready for the highly-anticipated event.

One Grandad rocked a half-and-half jersey, some brought their pet dogs - complete with club merch, while some even saw it as the day to dress up as a player.

Special transport was also put on for all those in pinstripes. The New York Transit Museum revived their Nostalgia Rides for the first day with the vintage train making the 25-minute route from Grand Central Station to the stadium.

IRT Lo-V trains started taking fans to Yankees games when the stadium opened in the 1920s.

The carriages were packed for the season opener on Thursday and loads of fans stood on the platform, phones at the ready, to catch a glimpse of the train before boarding.

Footage of a concourse within the stadium showed similar scenes with fans crammed in before making their way to their seats.

One fan was caught devouring a hotdog - absolutely covered in ketchup - as he took in the action at the Yankee Stadium.

The fanfare was league-wide with supporters across America taking the day off to soak up and enjoy the first day of the 2023 season.

Padres fans created a loud atmosphere as they waited for the gates to open in San Diego while Nationals Park proved popular as Washington played Atlanta in the capital.

The Cincinnati Reds kept up their tradition of holding the Findlay Market Parade on Opening Day.

A sea of the color red lined the streets of Cincinnati, Ohio, before the club's fans descended on the stadium - although the Pittsburgh Pirates spoiled the fun once the game got underway.

One Oakland Athletics fan donned a massive plastic bicep on his right arm as he cheered on his team in their 2-1 victory over Ohtani's Los Angeles Angels.

An LA Dodgers fan used the Opening Day to propose to his girlfriend - but it didn't go totally to plan.

Ricardo Juarez broke onto the field during his team's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks to get down on one knee.

He was wiped out by a big hit from a security guard, before being handcuffed and escorted from the venue by police officers. At least his partner did say yes to the big question.
