Cat entangled in feather boa rescued from subway tunnel

March 28 (UPI) -- Transit workers in New York came to the rescue of a cat found entangled in a feather boa inside a subway tunnel.

Mark Escorcia, a train operator with NYC Transit, said he and a train supervisor were tipped off to the presence of a cat inside a subway tunnel.

The workers discovered the feline was entangled in a feather boa. Escorcia told UPI the cat was brought aboard his train and freed from the feather boa before being turned over to transit police.

"NYPD officers and NYC Transit personnel were able to free the cat, which was taken to a New York City Animal Care Centers facility for evaluation," police tweeted.

New York City Animal Care Centers said the female cat, named Bugle, is now up for adoption at its Manhattan shelter.
