The Knicks lost their third straight game on Thursday night, have lost ground in their quest to avoid a play-in disaster, and lost their star point guard once again.

Jalen Brunson popped up on the injury report before Thursday’s loss to the Magic with a sprained right hand, and wasn’t able to go in Orlando. New York looked disjointed without Brunson leading the way, and couldn’t get back in the win column.

Brunson had just returned from missing five games with a bone bruise in his left foot, and the Knicks will now have to wait and see what his availability will be for Monday’s suddenly crucial game against the lowly Rockets.

“I don’t know,” Tom Thibodeau said of Brunson’s status, also unsure if he had an X-ray done on his hand. “He’ll be evaluated when we get back [to New York]. So we’ll see where he is.”

Brunson had been his usual self since returning from his foot injury, averaging 24 points in three games, but New York may have to continue to try and replace that production if Brunson misses more time.
