NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A New York City fisherman made quite the catch in Jamaica Bay on Wednesday — tipping police off to a "cache of weapons," according to police and a report.

The 44-year-old man discovered three rifles inside a plastic bag in the bay around 10:15 a.m. near Beach 38th Street and Norton Drive in Queens, police told the New York Post.

He went to a nearby police station to notify the NYPD.

Divers from the Emergency Response Detectives Unit went into the water and found the rifles as well as 14 handguns in shallow waters.

Police are now investigating where the weapons came from and continuing their search to see if they find any other firearms, sources told the paper.
