Don’t tell anyone I told you this… but a new speakeasy is currently on its way to Chelsea.
Domino is a brand new restaurant and bar concept from owners Danny Bazechouin and Lee Krezner. A 20-year veteran of New York’s hospitality and nightlife scene, Danny has spent his career working with some of the city’s most exclusive spaces, including Tabla, Eleven Madison, Avalon, Gramercy Park Hotel, and Hotel Americano. A partner at both the Harrow NYC and Adella, Danny brings with him decades of experience and hospitality excellence.
Their latest project, Domino, is currently set to open up at 250 West 26th Street. The location is currently home to West Chelsea Veterinary, which is thankfully still in operation. Domino is actually envisioned as a speakeasy concept that will occupy the basement of the space and is expected to seat an impressive 145 guests inside at one time with an additional 20-seat standing bar.
Danny has also attached a sample menu to his liquor license application for Domino, and it looks like guests can look forward to an exciting New American menu with an emphasis on flatbreads and sandwiches, like the pulled pork slider and the Margherita pizza. There are also plenty of shareable options as well, like chickpea toast, beef tartare, and pretzel bites. The star of the show though will be the drinks. As Chelsea’s newest speakeasy, Domino will offer a robust beverage program that will serve a wide variety of craft cocktails as well as beer and wine options. Domino will even offer old-fashioned and mezcal negronis on draft, and groups of friends can enjoy a signature “disco-ball” punchbowl cocktail together.
For their next step, Danny and his team are now getting ready to apply for a full restaurant liquor license for Domino. They are currently proposing operating hours of 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM on Monday and Tuesday, and 5:00 PM – 4:00 AM Wednesday through Sunday, noting additional plans to bring in live jazz and the occasional DJ. These hours are still subject to change pending the board’s approval, but Danny and his team have put in an extensive amount of work soundproofing the space and winning over the support of his new neighbors. Unfortunately, Domino is still too early into development to have its own social media presence, so you will just need to keep your eyes on the space for future signs of life.
