Iona Prep Brings 80s Nostalgia to the Stage with 'Footloose'

Get ready to kick off your Sunday shoes and cut loose with The Iona Prep Players as they present “Footloose” this spring based on the classic and ever-popular 1984 film.
A catchy cinema classic
The original film stars Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer. It tells the story of an outsider from Chicago who challenges the ban on dancing in a small town. His defiant spirit and infectious energy spreads across the community, and seeks liberation for self-expression through dance.
The chart-topping, unforgettable soundtrack features hits such as “Footloose”, “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and “Almost Paradise.” With heartfelt storytelling and exhilarating dance numbers, this musical adaptation will have you tapping your feet and singing along from beginning to end.

Carly Tauber, the 2021 Yonkers Junior Idol winner leads as love interest Ariel Moore. She is accompanied by Iona Prep students Peter Winter as antagonist Reverend Moore and Kyle Russell as Willard.
The director, Jordan Singer, has led the theater program at Iona Prep since September of 2023. As a New York-based actor, singer, producer, acting teacher, and choreographer, his expertise provides an impressive quality to his role.
The musical production has numerous showings at the beginning of next month–all playing at at the new Iona Prep Paul Verni Arts Center located at 255 Wilmont Road, New Rochelle, New York.
Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m.
Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m. with a second showing at 7 p.m.
The highly-anticipated performance signifies a noteworthy milestone as the first musical to debut at the brand-new 21,000-square-foot facility. It features a 409-seat auditorium equipped with professional-grade lighting and sound, serving as the designated home of the Iona Prep Players.
