U.S. Border Patrol Arrests Alleged El Salvadorian Gang Member in New Orleans

New Orleans, LS: The head of the US Border Patrol says that an accused gang member from El Salvador was caught in New Orleans.

Border Patrol officers arrested Lorenzo Alexander Benitez during a traffic stop, according to USBP Chief Jason Owens on X, which used to be Twitter.
Owens told police that Benitez was a member of the MS-13 gang. He said that Benitez “will be prosecuted for felony re-entry after having been removed from the US before.”

A gang description on the Department of Justice website says that MS-13 is a violent and organized gang that was started by immigrants from El Salvador.

Owens says that since 2024, border patrol officers have arrested 41 MS-13 gang members.
