A Kansas woman flying out of New Orleans on a Memorial Day weekend Southwest Airlines flight found herself booked on charges of battery on a police officer and other counts, after deputies removed her from the flight before it left.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, 25-year-old Kamaryn Gibson wouldn't stop disturbing other passengers on the Monday, May 29 flight. She reportedly placed her feet on top of the seat in front of her, kicking another passenger in the head, and refused to take her feet down. It got to the point where the pilot had to taxi back to the terminal.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputies tried to convince the passenger to leave the plane voluntarily, according to a spokesman, but she refused.

Deputies then began to forcibly remove her, at first attempting to lead her down the aisle, then placing her in handcuffs. A passenger recorded the incident and uploaded it to TikTok.

Passengers voiced their approval as the deputies removed her from the plane; some of them offering comments as she talked about being confused about her situation.

"I am literally so confused (about) what's happening," she said, as another passenger retorts, "yeah, well we're not."

The sheriff's office says she bit a deputy on the thigh as they were removing her, and kicked two others.

"She was eventually restrained in a wheelchair and brought to the airport's police office before being transported to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center," said Capt. Jason Rivarde, spokesman for the sheriff's office. "She was booked with two counts of disturbing the peace, criminal mischief, two counts of resisting an officer using force or violence, and three counts of battery on a police officer."

Rivarde said Gibson was released from custody on May 30 on a $9,750 bond.
