New Orleans police investigate after woman abducted at gunpoint, hit by car twice
MORNING. A BEAUTIFUL START TO THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. LET’S CHECK IN WITH LEE SOUTHWICK. IT REALLY IS A BEAUTIFUL START. IT’S A COOL START FOR A LOT OF YOU. CHECK OUT YOUR TEMPERATURES, 59 DEGREES RIGHT NOW IN BOGALUSA AND SLIDELL. IT IS CHILLY OUT THERE FOR SOME OF YOU. 62 DEGREES IN BELLE CHASE, 64 IN HAMMOND, 68 IN HOMA. MEANWHILE, WE ARE IN THE 70S CLOSER TO THE LAKEFRONT AND FOR OUR COASTAL AREAS. SO OUT THERE RIGHT NOW, NOTHING TO TRACK ON RADAR. AND I THINK RADAR WILL LOOK LIKE THIS THROUGHOUT MOST OF THE DAY TODAY. DEW POINTS ARE SITTING IN THE 50S AND 60S THANKS TO THAT DRIER AIR IN PLACE, WHICH MEANS THAT IT FEELS COMFORTABLE. WE HAVE LOWER HUMIDITY. AND I THINK THE 50S AND 60S FOR OUR DEW POINTS. WE’LL STICK AROUND THROUGH THE LONG WEEKEND. OVERALL TODAY, HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO TOP OUT IN THE MIDDLE AND UPPER 80S. LATER ON THIS AFTERNOON. THIS EVENING, IF YOU’RE HEADING OUT TO GREEK FEST, IT’S GOING TO BE REALLY NICE. WE’LL BE IN THE MIDDLE 80S AND THEN FALL DOWN INTO THE 70S. NOW CHECK OUT SATURDAY. THERE’S A 20% CHANCE OF A SHOWER. OVERALL RAIN CHANCES ARE LOW ON YOUR SATURDAY, BUT TONIGHT WE’LL HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR SOME SHOWERS AND MAYBE A FEW STORMS. THIS WILL MAINLY FAVOR COASTAL AREAS. SO AGAIN, THIS IS OVERNIGHT TONIGHT, SOME SHOWERS DEVELOPMENT, MAYBE A FEW STORMS OVER PLAQUEMINES PARISH. AND THEN AS WE HEAD INTO OUR SATURDAY, I CAN’T RULE OUT THE REDEVELOPMENT POSSIBILITY OF A FEW SHOWERS OUT THERE, TOO. SO IF YOU’RE HEADING TO THE BEACH, IF YOU’RE HEADING TO GRAND ISLE, I HAVE BUMPED UP RAIN CHANCES JUST SLIGHTLY FOR YOU ALL, BUT MOST OF THE DAY WILL STAY DRY. AND THEN SUNDAY AND MONDAY, ALSO SPECTACULAR DAYS TO BE AT THE BEACH. SAME IF YOU’RE HEADING TO BILOXI, OVER TO PENSACOLA, SOME NICE AND COMFORTABLE DAYS ARE IN STORE HIGHS WILL BE IN THE 80S. THERE’S A 10% CHANCE OF RAIN ON SUNDAY. I CAN’T RULE OUT A PASSING SHOWER, BUT OVERALL, AGAIN, MOST OF US STAY DRY BACK HERE AT HOME, IF YOU’RE HEADING OUT TO THE POOL, SAME STORY IN THE 80S UNTIL MONDAY WHEN WE REACH 90 DEGREES. BUT LOOK AT YOUR UV INDEX VALUES, TENS AND 11TH. THAT MEANS THAT THE UV INDEX IS VERY HIGH TO EXTREME. SO PLEASE DO NOT FORGET YOUR SUNSCREEN, YOUR HAT, YOUR SUNGLASSES. PLEASE PROTECT YOUR SKIN. SAME STORY IF YOU ARE HEADING OUT ON THE LAKE WAVES AND SEAS WILL ONLY BE AROUND 1 TO 3FT THROUGH MONDAY. SO FOR YOUR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, OVERALL RAIN CHANCES STAYING FAIRLY LOW. HIGHEST CHANCE OF SATURDAY AND REALLY SATURDAY MORNING. AND AGAIN, THAT WILL FAVOR COASTAL AREAS. WE DO WARM UP TO NEAR 90 DEGREES ON MEMORIAL DAY, BUT CHECK OUT YOUR MORNING LOWS AGAIN THIS MORNING. IT HAS BEEN A COOL START FOR A LOT OF YOU AND I THINK THAT’S WHERE IT WILL STAY THROUGH THE MORNINGS AS WELL. SO VERY COMFORTABLE MORNINGS TO START. AND THEN LATER ON IN THE AFTERNOONS WARMING BACK UP INTO THE 80S TO NEAR 90. SO WINDOWS, HUMIDITY, RETURN. I DON’T THINK THAT HAPPENS UNTIL AFTER MEMORIAL DAY LATER INTO NEXT WEEK, YOU CAN SEE RAIN CHANCES START TO RISE AROUND 30%. STARTING ON WEDNESDAY, WE TRANSITION BACK TO A SUMMERLIKE PATTERN BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK. BUT AT LEAST FOR THE UNOFFICIAL START OF SUMMER THIS WEEKEND, IT WILL FEEL MUCH MORE LIKE SPRING. IT WILL BE A COMFORTAB
