SEMO-NASV to open satellite office in New Madrid

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Southeast Missouri Network Against Sexual Violence (SEMO-NASV) is opening a new satellite office with the goal of expanding access to services for Southeast Missouri.

The new satellite office will be in New Madrid, Missouri.

A move that Development Director Alix Gasser says is to help cut the time for people looking for services.

“We serve 9 counties in southeast Missouri, and we serve Perry all the way down to Dunklin and so we know that people that are coming from the very bottom of the states are having to drive sometimes up to two hours to get to our location in Jackson,” said Gasser.

The new location will only be open a couple of days out of the week, with SEMO-NASV staff making the trip to help to those in need.

“It’s just an additional location that would offer the forensic interview and forensic exam in that space and it would be by appointment only,” said Gasser.

Gasser hopes that the new location makes their services more accessible to people who are trying to escape sexual abuse and violence.

“My hope is that people know that we’re here and we offer these services and they’re completely free to families and they’re not offending family members, so my hope is that people just realize that we’re there and we’re there to help them,” said Gasser.

Open House for the new satellite office will be Friday, April 28, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at our new satellite office, 417 Mott St, New Madrid, MO 63869
