Man, 14-year-old seriously hurt when pickup hits power pole in Deer Creek

A driver and passenger were seriously injured Friday afternoon in a crash in the town of Deer Creek, authorities say.

According to the sheriff's office, a pickup driven by a 21-year-old Tigerton man veered off the road and struck a power pole, resulting in life-threatening injuries to himself and serious injuries to the 14-year-old New London passenger.

The driver was transported by helicopter to a local hospital and the passenger was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The Outagamie County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened shortly before 1 p.m. on State 76, and the road remained closed until 9 p.m. to repair the power pole.
