Four people hurt in Howard County two-vehicle crash; one driver arrested for DWI

NEW FRANKLIN, Mo. (KMIZ)

Four people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon in Howard County less than two miles North of New Franklin.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the crash happened at 4:22 p.m. on Tuesday on Highway 5 just south of County Road 450 in Howard County.

Shelby Thompson, 33 of Columbia, was driving southbound in a 2003 Lexus RX300 when she crossed the center line and hit a 2012 GMC Sierra driven by Kristopher Elliott, 28 of Fayette.

Troopers said the GMC Sierra went off the side of the road and flipped over throwing Elliott from the truck. He was taken by a helicopter to University Hospital in serious condition.

Hayley McCutcheon, 24, and Michael Walters, 20, both from Fayette were passengers in Elliott's car. Both were taken to University Hospital for treatment; McCutcheon with serious and Walters with moderate injuries.

MU Health Care said Walters had been treated and released and Elliot is in fair condition as of Wednesday morning.

Thompson's car also went off the side of the road and she was reported with minor injuries but refused medical treatment according to the report.

Thompson was arrested for alleged DWI, according to a Highway Patrol arrest report.

No one in the crash was wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.
