Delaware State Police Investigating Armed Robbery

Date Posted: Thursday, June 8th, 2023

The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery of a delivery truck that occurred last night in the New Castle area.

On June 7, 2023, at approximately 11:16 p.m., troopers responded to the Wawa located at 7 East Commons Boulevard, New Castle for a report of an armed robbery. Troopers arrived on the scene and learned that two suspects approached a tractor-trailer that was parked next to the store while a 27-year-old male victim was in the trailer unloading and delivering products for Wawa. The first suspect walked into the trailer while displaying a firearm toward the victim and began removing cartons of cigarettes. During the robbery, the driver’s assistant, a 23-year-old male, exited the Wawa and was returning to the truck when the second suspect confronted him while displaying a firearm. Both suspects then removed an undisclosed number of cigarette cartons from the delivery truck before fleeing the scene in a dark-colored sedan. The victims were not injured.

The first suspect was described as a black male approximately 5’5″ tall, 150-175 lbs., wearing all dark clothing and a mask.

The second suspect was described as a black male approximately 5’7″-5’9″ tall, 165-180 lbs., wearing all dark clothing and a mask.

Surveillance video and images are not yet available.
