Arrest Made in New Castle Gas Station Robbery

NEW CASTLE, DE – The Delaware State Police apprehended James Rice, 40, of New Castle, DE, for a robbery at a local gas station on Monday evening.

At around 8:50 p.m. on Monday, troopers were called to the Shell gas station at 299 Christiana Road in New Castle, following a robbery report. A male suspect, later identified as James Rice, confronted an employee behind the sales counter, demanded cash, and absconded with an undisclosed amount of money in a blue Ford F150.

While the troopers were still on scene investigating the robbery, Rice returned in the same vehicle and was promptly arrested. Loose cash was observed scattered inside the vehicle. Rice was transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with second-degree robbery, a felony. He was later arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court # 11 and posted bail on a $2,500 secured bond.
