For nearly half a century, the warriors had to watch other teams celebrate winning a league championship. That all changed on Thursday.
No. 5 Wilton used a strong third quarter to pull away from No. 4 New Canaan in the FCIAC title game to win the program's first conference championship since 1999.
"We wanted to play more aggressive after halftime, and we wanted to play a little faster. We got it going on offense, we got some good looks and we buried them in the second half," Wilton Head Coach Steve Pearsall said.
Warriors goalie Evan Blankenship made 12 saves and was named MVP.
