The disappearance and death of Jennifer Farber Dulos: A timeline of key events in the case

NEW CANAAN, Conn. (WTNH) — Jennifer Farber Dulos, a New Canaan mother of five, disappeared on May 24, 2019, after dropping her children off at school.

Although her body has never been found, authorities believe Farber Dulos was killed by her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos. He was charged with her murder in January 2020 and died by suicide a few weeks later.

Two others were charged in the case — Dulos’ former lawyer, Kent Mawhinney and Dulos’ girlfriend, Michelle Troconis. Both pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit murder.

Troconis was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit tampering with physical evidence, two counts of tampering with physical evidence and one count of hindering prosecution in the second degree on March 1, 2024.

Her charges were in connection to allegations that she conspired with Dulos to kill his estranged work, with the prosecution pointing to a planned phone call she took from Dulos’ friend in Greece.

She was also accused of being with Dulos while he disposed of evidence in various trash bins in Hartford. She also helped bring a vehicle involved in the crime to Avon to be washed and detailed.

After the verdict, Farber Dulos’ family called the decision “a crucial attribution of accountability, not a victory.”

Troconis was sentenced on May 31 to 20 years in prison, suspended after 14.5 years. She was sentenced to five years, suspended after four, for each of her four other charges. The sentences will run concurrently.

A trial date for Mawhinney has not been set.
