Four-star running back Jason Patterson was impressed on his Rutgers football official visit

Rutgers football hosted Jason Patterson over the weekend for an official visit. The Florida running back, a four-star recruit according to ESPN.com, is one of the fastest high school recruits in the nation.

Patterson is a member of the ESPN 300 out of Sneads High School (Sneads, FL). Patterson is a legitimate Power Five recruit, with offers from Boston College, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Stanford, Vanderbilt and West Virginia as well as Rutgers.

The class of 2024 running back is also a standout track star, who recently clocked a 10.96 time in the 100 meters during spring outdoor track. Last season as a junior, Patterson had 2,721 rushing yards with 35 touchdowns.

During his official visit, Patterson made a social media post about how he was impressed with the level of love shown by Rutgers.

“One of the best trips of my life, loved every moment about it!” Patterson told Rutgers Wire on Sunday night.

“The staff – they are genuinely great people.”

Patterson then expanded on what stood out about the relationship with head coach Greg Schiano and his staff.

“Like the staff, I feel at home and welcomed when I’m there. Coach Schiano wants to win and everyone is bought in and wants to win too,” Patterson said.

“So they’re doing what they can to get there.”

The best part of the trip for Patterson was Saturday night when the group went to New York City. It was a first for Patterson, who was impressed with Times Square.

He did not get any photos with Sponge Bob or Wonder Woman.

The trip didn’t necessarily see Rutgers move up in his recruitment. That’s because Patterson said the program is already doing well.

“I always thought high of them so they are very high on my list,” Patterson said.

“Don’t know if they had much to move.”

Next weekend, Patterson will be at Boston College followed by Kansas, Cincinnati and Vanderbilt.
