One dead, one injured in early-morning shooting in New Bern

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) — One person was killed and another injured in an early-morning shooting that happened in New Bern.

Police responded just before 4 a.m. to the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for a reported gunshot victim. They found two people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the parking lot of Something Special VIP.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and a second person was transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center before being airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Saturday evening, New Bern police said the man who died was Antorio Jay Hargett, 41 of New Bern. The second victim, Raquisha Brothers, 33 of New Bern, was treated and released from ECU Health Medical Center.
