Five undefeated teams lead this week's prep baseball rankings; New Berlin Eisenhower honored

TEAM OF THE WEEK

New Berlin Eisenhower

The Lions swept five games this week by a combined score of 58-4 to improve to 9-3. Ike took consecutive matchups with West Allis Central by margins of 18-1 and 10-0 on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, to start the strong week. On Friday, the Lions defeated Milwaukee Lutheran, 25-0, in a 25-hit team performance. On Saturday in a triangular at Waukesha West, Ike beat Homestead, 1-0, and the hosting Wolverines, 4-3, to round out the perfect week. The pitching staff combined to throw 29 innings, allowing 13 hits, four runs with one earned. Collectively they walked 10 and struck out 39, surrendering a 0.24 ERA. Highlights included a complete game shutout for freshman Cal Schneider in the win over Homestead, in which he allowed three hits, a walk and struck out three. Junior Alex Radtke pitched a shutout with seven strikeouts in the win over Milwaukee Lutheran, while junior Sam Hirthe and senior Austin Drayna contributed to the strong week on the mound as well. The Lions entered the week with scheduled contests with New Berlin West on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as at St. Augustine Prep on Thursday and at Cudahy on Friday.

COMING UP

Kenosha Indian Trail at Oak Creek, 4:30 p.m. Wednesday: The middle of a three-game series this week between Southeast Conference foes near the top of the league, with the other two games taking place at Kenosha Indian Trail on Tuesday and Friday.

Waukesha North at Muskego, 5 p.m. Thursday: Classic 8 Conference members out to one-loss starts to their seasons entering the week meet to realign the early conference standings.

Lake Country Triangular, noon to 6 p.m. Saturday: No. 3 Hartford and No. 10 Lake Country Lutheran face off at 6 p.m. to highlight a triangular with Kenosha St. Joseph Catholic starting Saturday afternoon.
