Source of smoke coming from Negaunee home undetermined

NEGAUNEE, MI— A cat was rescued from a Negaunee residence Tuesday night, after firefighters found smoke coming out of the home.

The City of Negaunee Fire Department was dispatched around 10:15 p.m. to a house on the 100 block of West Arch Street. Crews located the source of the smoke and extinguished it quickly.

One resident was treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation. Firefighters were able to rescue a cat from the house.

The homeowners are receiving help from the Marquette County Pigs-n-Heat Fund.

Officials say the cause of the incident is undetermined.
