Whooping cough cases have been reported in South Carolina with a rise from last year's numbers. According to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), SC has seen a total of 52 whooping cough cases in total in 2024. In the Upstate, 47 cases were reported, followed by four in the Lowcountry and one in the Midlands.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The Charleston Police Department (CPD) has released the affidavit for the man charged with killing two young women in a hit-and-run Sunday morning. Max David Gentilin, 25, of Charleston is charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing death in connection with the deaths of Arianna Gramber and Lizzy Zito, both 20 years old and of Springfield. He was booked at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center on May 1.
