Family campout in Chula Vista

Reserve soon for the Snores and Smores Family Campout from 5 p.m. to 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday at Montevalle Community Park, 840 Duncan Ranch Road, Chula Vista. Bring your own tents and sleeping bags; event includes hot dog dinner, marshmallow roast, arts and crafts, games and activities, and a movie. All ages, but space limited. National City has survey on shuttle

The city of National City is working to bring electric cart shuttle service — Free Ride Anywhere National City (FRANC) — to residents. The service would provide free rides primarily to transit and trolley service stops connecting to home, shopping, work, recreation and other services. The service will remain free as long as funding for the service lasts. Residents are asked to give feedback in a Clean Mobility Option Participant Survey; find it at nationalcityca.gov/home under “City Spotlight.”

‘Summer Sundays’ starts next week

Village Walk at Eastlake in Chula Vista kicks off its free six-week Summer Sundays program from 5 to 7 p.m. June 11 with a performance by The Joe Rathburn Band. Besides the live musical performance, the Corvette Owners Club will display their cars, and ages 12 and younger can decorate a bird feeder. Free face painting and balloon sculptures, plus coupon books with specials and discounts from Village Walk businesses. Enjoy a different car club and band every week. Paradise Gardeners to meet

Paradise Gardeners hold their next meeting on Thursday at the Skyline Hills Library, 7900 Paradise Valley Road. Social hour at 10 a.m.; program at 10:30 a.m. Master Gardener Mary Berube will discuss “Understanding Soils and Fungi in the Garden.” Visit paradisegardeners.org.

City hosts fitness class, free breakfast

National City offers “NC Gets Active: Feeling Fit,” a class from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday 6/10 at Kimball Park. Register yourself and your family at joinnatcity.com. After the Feeling Fit Class, the city will host the Quarterly Community Breakfast. Visit the MLK Jr. Community Center, 140 E. 12th St., at 10 a.m. for project and community updates. Group to discuss advance directives

The nonprofit Compassion & Choices hosts a free community gathering to discuss “Advance Directives in Health Care Planning” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 12 at the Southwestern College Higher Education Center, 460 W. San Ysidro Blvd., Room 5106, San Ysidro. Learn how to plan and document your values to help guide health care decisions if you are unable to communicate.

Coronado center offers bridge lessons

The John D. Spreckels Center is offering an eight-week session of Beginning Bridge lessons from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays starting this week. The book “Bridge Basics 1: An Introduction” by Audrey Grant is included in the cost of $60 for Coronado residents and $70 for nonresidents. To sign up, call (619) 522-7343.
