Choctaw County (Miss.) five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham returned to Rocky Top this weekend for his official visit with Tennessee. Volquest caught up with the elite prospect following the weekend visit, and he shared his thoughts and more on the visit. You can see the full video interview above.

“I enjoyed being around and spending time with Coach Pope and some of the other coaches on staff,” the five-star said. “It was a great weekend, I really enjoyed it. I really liked bonding with George MacIntyre, Jaime Ffrench, David Sanders, we got on a boat and went tubing and it was really fun.”

Cunningham was around Vols wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope throughout the weekend, and he was impressed by the time he spent with him.

“He definitely wants me,” Cunningham said of the time spent with Pope. “We have a good, close relationship, and we are going to keep building on that. I can definitely play in their offense, and they get their playmakers the ball, and I am a playmaker, so I definitely fit Tennessee.”

Cunningham’s relationship with George MacIntyre has continued to grow, and the two connected well over the weekend.

“We were at the top of the stadium yesterday looking down and saying just imagine him throwing me the ball and the fans going crazy,” Cunningham said of this. “We could be great here. We could turn things around.”

Cunningham and Josh Heupel have long had a good relationship, and the five-star enjoyed being around the top Vol during the weekend as well.

“He told me that they definitely want me and they need me, and that I have a great personality, and that is another reason they really want me,” Cunningham said of this. “They want me for the person I am”

Cunningham and George MacIntyre spent plenty of time re-connecting on Rocky Top this weekend.

So what did this visit do for the Vols in the recruitment of the five-star?

“They are pretty high,” Cunningham said of this. “It is going to be a hard decision with Auburn and Florida. It is going to be a pretty hard decision. They are all competing for me.”

Cunningham says he is “most definitely” going to leave the state of Mississippi as things stand at this point in his recruitment. He hopes to make a decision sometime before his senior season ends.

    Caleb Cunningham’s On3 Scouting Profile

Bouncy outside receiver with the upside to become a skilled ball-winner. Listed at an unverified 6-foot-3, 185 pounds. Moves well at that size. Shows the ability to come down with catches in contested situations. Naturally coordinated and can locate the football at its highest point. Also shows some ability to make defenders miss after the catch. Doubles as a fantastic high school basketball player who lives above the rim, throwing down dunks with regularity. Also posted strong marks in the high jump (6-0 feet) and triple jump (43-4.25 feet) as a freshman. Has considerable natural ability but will need to hone his technical skill at the position over the final few years of high school football. Could stand to be more productive. Plays at a smaller high school and doesn’t face top competition.
