The Tennessee Vols will be without a key offensive player for the rest of spring practice.

According to a report from VolQuest , sophomore running back Cam Seldon suffered a shoulder injury that will require surgery. He's expected to be ready to go for fall practice.

Seldon is the favorite to serve as Tennessee's No. 2 running back behind starter Dylan Sampson.

The former four-star recruit, who was rated as the No. 77 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class, rushed for 106 yards on 25 carries in limited action as a true freshman.

Seldon, who is 6-foot-2/222 lbs, has a unique skillset. He can be used as a running back or a wide receiver, which makes him an interesting option for Josh Heupel and the Vols' offensive staff. When he hits the field this fall, we could see Seldon used in a way that running backs haven't been previously used at Tennessee under Heupel.

But first, Seldon has to get his shoulder healthy. It's an unfortunate setback for a player that should see a lot of action for the Vols in 2024.
