Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton made sure that UT got off to an electric start on Saturday against UTSA.
Milton kept the ball on the first play of the game and proceeded to take it 81 yards to the end zone, giving Tennessee an early 7-0 lead (the Vols would win 45-14).
After the game, Milton was asked about the long run. And he had a hilarious response -- especially when he described almost stumbling around the 20 yard line.
"A tire kind of blew out at the 20," said Milton. "But sometimes you can ride on a spare tire. It was good."
Milton, who said he watched some highlights of former Carolina Panthers quarterback Joe Milton this past week, told reporters that he considered diving into the end zone from the five-yard line, but he heard Vols head coach Josh Heupel in his mind saying "don't do it".
"I was about to pull one of his (Newton) moves and just jump from the five, but in my head I just heard Coach Heup say 'don't do it', so I didn't do it," said Milton with a laugh.
That was probably a wise decision by Milton. The last thing the Vols need is for their starting quarterback to suffer an injury -- especially with only one other scholarship quarterback (true freshman Nico Iamaleava) on the roster.
