One day after Vanderbilt baseball's top remaining position player signee re-affirmed his commitment to the Commodores, a top pitching recruit indicated he would do the same.

Ethan McElvain, a left-handed pitcher from Nolensville High School, posted Tuesday on his Instagram story, "So excited for the next 3 years. Anchor down!"

McElvain is the younger brother of former Vanderbilt pitcher Chris McElvain, an eighth-round pick of the Reds in 2022. Ranked the No. 49 prospect in the class of 2023 by Perfect Game, Ethan McElvain was considered a potential top-three rounds MLB Draft pick but was not selected.

He will join a pitching staff that includes fellow lefties Carter Holton and Devin Futrell, both potential high draft picks in 2024, as well as another Nashville-area freshman southpaw in Lipscomb Academy's Miller Green.

Though Vanderbilt lost four commits through the first two rounds of the draft, the Commodores mostly got good news after that. Shortstop Braden Holcomb confirmed Monday that he planned to head to campus.
