A man is behind bars for allegedly pointing a laser at a Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) helicopter crew that was flying over "dangerous street racing activity" during Memorial Day weekend.
Metro Police say the flight crew came upon street racing activity Saturday night at a corporate parking lot in South Nashville. That's when someone reportedly directed a laser at the helicopter, which can impair the vision of pilots.
Jacob Derryberry, 21, is being held on a $55,000 bond. Police have charged him with two felony counts of aggravated assault on the police flight crew. Derryberry is also charged with contributing to the delinquency of minors.
