Metro Nashville detectives shot at, investigation underway
The shooting happened in the Bordeaux area early Friday morning.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department are looking for a person who fired at detectives early Friday morning.
According to police, two detectives in an unmarked car were following a stolen vehicle when they were fired upon in the area of Pheasant Drive and Dove Place around 3 a.m. on Friday. The detectives lost track of the vehicle, sparking an immediate search.
No injuries were reported. MNPD set up a perimeter around the neighborhood for the search and investigation.
Police said that the vehicle was later located using a helicopter at a nearby residence, but the occupant(s) has not been located. SWAT teams were brought in to search the home the car was parked at, but no one of interest was found inside and the house was cleared.
Elizabeth Darden was woken up by the gunshots and watched from the window as officers lined her street and used flashlights to look for the suspects. The search was so big her son couldn’t even get home from work.
“I heard gunshots, it was several gunshots,” Darden said. “I was really shocked. I was like, ‘Man that’s too close for comfort.’”
Six individuals were detained for questioning in connection with the shooting, police said. They have since been released, and their involvement in the shooting remains unknown.
Onie Moore said her family members called her all morning to make sure she was not hurt in the incident. She has lived in the neighborhood for 50 years and said nothing like this has ever happened there.
“That was scary because I start looking out my front door, my side door, my back windows and I am just looking around trying to figure out if my cars are still here,” Moore said. “My husband has a truck and I am like, ‘I hope nobody is in the back of his truck.’ I didn’t know what was going on.”
