Nashville Officer Rex Engelbert grew up in Chicago's Jefferson Park neighborhood. He went to suburban Loyola Academy and grew up on the city’s Northwest Side with three brothers and a sister.

Nashville police have released dramatic body camera footage from two officers who fired at the shooter. The 27-year-old Engelbert was on the team of five that arrived at Covenant School Monday morning. He’s been on the force for four years.

Family members have told reporters that the police call that morning must have been particularly concerning for Engelbert, his fiancée is a teacher at another Christian school in Nashville.
