Gov addresses Tennesseans after mass shooting, says first lady was friends with victims

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —

Gov. Bill Lee addressed the state in a prerecorded video Tuesday night, more than a day after six lives were lost in a mass shooting at a Nashville elementary school.

The governor says first lady Maria Lee was "best friends" with Cindy Peak, the substitute teacher shot and killed at The Covenant School. She was also friends with the slain head of school at Covenant, Katherine Koonce.
