NASHVILLE, Tenn.--A Nashville woman is warning neighbors in the Donelson area to stay aware after her SUV was stolen from her driveway in the middle of the night.
Dena Altman says her SUV was stolen just before 5 a.m. on Sunday morning while she slept in her Donelson home located on Branwood Drive.
Dena says she has a security system and actually caught the criminals on video, but despite the evidence and filing a report with police, there is little to quell her fears.
The theft is even more of a violation when you consider the vehicle belonged to Dena's mother, who passed of brain cancer. "There's a lot of sentimental value to me," Dena says.
She shared her video and photos of the vehicle in the hopes someone will spot it and contact her or police. Video shows the thieves going up and down the street, exiting a white vehicle and rummaging through parked cars before returning to the getaway vehicle.
In Dena's case, they came back a second time and took off with the SUV. "They did all this right under the street light with my home security sign present and obvious Vivint cam on doorbell. They didn't care."
Altman filed a police report and says she wished she had another camera facing the vehicle which would announce it was recording and potentially have served as a deterrent. "Honestly, I don't feel safe in my neighborhood anymore," Dena says of the incident.
The vehicle is a light beige Ford Escape, tag number BDZ9763. Anyone who spots the vehicle is asked to call Metro Nashville Police at 615-862-8600 and reference case number 2023:0165477.
