Palm Beach Town Council appoints four new faces to planning commission
There's new blood on Palm Beach's Planning and Zoning Commission, now that Town Council members have appointed a freshman class of two regular and two alternate commissioners to the volunteer board. The quartet is joined by investments executive Matthew Ailey, who will serve in a new position on the 10-member commission. He was elevated from his role as alternate member to regular voting member during the council's Oct. 13 meeting. The other just-appointed regular members include landscape designer Mario Nievera and author Jennifer Ash Rudick, as well as the two new alternate commissioners — businessman Kendall Kemper Cox Cheatham and real estate agent John Schuler Jr. All positions carry a three-year term. The updated roster's first meeting will be Nov. 3. The appointees will fill the seats left vacated by former commissioners Marilyn Beuttenmuller, Jorge Sanchez, Martin Klein, Victoria Donaldson and Ailey, with his ascension to a regular member position. Beuttenmuller and Sanchez were term-limited, while Donaldson did not apply for a second term on the board. Council members chose not to reappoint Klein, who had completed the remainder of the regular member position held by Nicki McDonald before her election in March to the Town Council.
