(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A judge in DuPage County has sentenced a 26-year-old Aurora man to 100 years in state prison for the rape, robbery and kidnapping of a woman in 2018, prosecutors said.

Judge Michael Reidy handed down the sentence to Thaddeus Jones on Tuesday, more than a month after a jury found him guilty of crimes ranging from home invasion, aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping, robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle, officials said.

Authorities say Jones broke into a home in unincorporated Naperville in March 2018 and sexually assaulted a woman inside. He allegedly forced her into the woman’s car and drove to her bank to withdraw money from her account, DuPage County prosecutors said.

The woman was able to escape when Jones returned to the woman’s home, officials said. He was quickly located a Naperville motel and has remained in custody since then.

“Make no mistake, Mr. Jones most certainly earned every single year of the one-hundred-year sentence handed down by Judge Reidy this afternoon,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said. “The vicious, violent attack and sexual assault Mr. Jones administered to this innocent woman will haunt her for the rest of her life.”

Jones technically would not be eligible for parole until 2096, the state’s attorney’s office noted.
