There's one event on Cape Cod and the Islands that signifies that summertime is here.

All hands on deck as it's time to set sail for the 53rd annual Figawi Race Weekend on May 24-26.

The sailing regatta began in the 1970s and has been one of the biggest events on the Cape ever since.

On the opening day (May 24), you can do some some Figawi shopping as early as 9 a.m. at the Hyannis Yacht Club on the lower level. Later that day, there will be a Welcome Party as the same location at 3 p.m.

On Saturday (May 25), the annual race will take place. It will start at the Hyannis Port Jetty, and end in the vicinity of the entrance to Nantucket Harbor. Spectators will be able to enjoy the view from Kalmus Beach as boats make their way to the start line from 8-10 a.m.

At the conclusion of the race, there will be sponsored engagements at the newly renovated and reopened (April 2024) Nantucket Boat Basin Docks, and a variety of Nantucket restaurants to enjoy as well.

On the final day (May 26), there will be more sponsored engagements at the Nantucket Boat Basin Docks, also a Figawi Awards Presentation as a time and location that has not been determined yet.
