Dixon’s iconic Memorial Arch facing repairs
DIXON, Ill. (WIFR) - A landmark along Lincoln Highway, Dixon’s Memorial Arch embarks on a repair journey, breathing new life into the decades old structure. Starting Wednesday, June 5, only one northbound and one southbound lane will be open on Galena Avenue as crews clean, fix the electric and paint the arch, as well as install new LED lights. The project is expected to cost nearly $70,000, according to public works director Matt Heckman, who says a generous donation of $63,000 from the Wolber family, owners of Arthur’s Garden Deli, made it all possible.
