Since I lived in Turin for three years (and even wrote a book on it), I was lucky enough to explore its surroundings. To get an authentic taste of Northern Italian life. I wanted to share these hidden gems with you since they don’t get the attention they deserve.

Turin is a destination in its own right, but the bustle of the city became overstimulating at times. If you’re in the Turin area for more than a few days, you may want to take advantage of its convenient location and explore these nearby destinations.

Day trips are a great remedy to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and beat monotony, and they often lend a more genuine experience.

Northwestern Italy’s Most Fascinating Towns

1.Susa. Nestled in a valley along the Alps with Roman ruins to explore.

2. Bardonecchia. The resort town in the Alps for skiing and snowboarding.

3. Savona. A mid-sized town with culture, art…and lots of palm trees!

4. Aosta. Noted for its high quality of life and mountain fun.

5. Alba. Famous for its prized white truffles, gourmet food, and wine.

6. Sant’Ambrogio di Torino. Striking mountaintop cathedral to hike.

7. Finale Ligure. The perfect place to catch some rays and dip in the sea.

Conclusion

There’s so much more to northwestern Italy than just Turin — and best of all, all of the following ten destinations can be easily reached by train, bus, or even BlaBla car (an app like Uber or Lyft but for longer distances) making it easy and affordable for you to get around.

From paradisaical sea escapes to tranquil mountaintops, to adventures waiting to be had in neighboring cities, Turin’s convenient geographic position makes it easy for you to see diverse and exciting places nearby.
