SOAR Tropical Butterflies

South Coast Botanic Garden has a newly built pavilion where you can walk through fluttering butterflies. This new exhibition allows you to see butterflies in every stage of the life cycle and their natural habitat. SOAR offers the opportunity to get up close to butterflies collected from all over the world while learning about them.

Tickets are $22 for adults and $12 for children. They include general admission to the garden.

The South Coast Botanic Garden is an 87-acre garden located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Los Angeles. It has more than 2,500 different species of plants from all over the world.

While visiting the butterfly exhibition, enjoy relaxing in one of the many charming gardens such as the Cactus Garden and Fuchsia Garden. There is also a Children's Garden.

Additionally, due to the wide variety of plant life, 200 species of birds are sighted annually at the gardens.

Descanso Gardens

Descanso Gardens, the botanical oasis, is open and celebrating spring. In bloom are camellias, azaleas, irises, lilacs, wildflowers, and native plants.

You could spend the day there visiting all the various stunning gardens - Oak Woodland, Californian Natives, Ancient Forest, Japanese Gardens, Rose Gardens, and more.*

Additionally, Descanso offers the chance to see animals roaming the garden, including birds, deer, mountain lions, bears, snakes, squirrels, and more.

For lunch, you can relax on the lawn at Descano Gardens and enjoy dining al fresco. The Kitchen at Descanso is currently offering socially distanced meals on the Magnolia Lawn! Though you need to preorder 48 hours in advance. However, if you haven't planned, you can also enjoy food from the Kiosk in the Courtyard or have a cocktail at the Camellia Lounge in the Japanese Garden.

Additionally, you can fit in some shopping. The Descanso Gardens Gift Shop includes home and garden furnishings, art, garden and nature books, ceramics and collectibles, and outdoor wear.
