Earth Day events in Los Angeles

Travel Bugs World

Happy Earth Week 2021. This week we should all take a moment to honor and celebrate our Earth and think about its future. In Los Angeles, there are several events this weekend and during the week.

Earth Day is held each year on 22nd April. Its primary purpose is to support and give a voice to environmental protection. Earth Day dates back to 1970, and each year includes a wide range of events globally.

Oceanic Global Los Angeles Earth Day Beach Cleanup

One of the best ways of supporting our Earth is through clean-ups! You can do this on your own on the beach or in a park and pick up trash. Alternatively, you can join a group. There are many groups in Los Angeles organizing beach clean-ups in your area.

My pick is the Oceanic Global Los Angeles Earth Day Beach Cleanup. Besides organizing beach clean-ups, worldwide Oceanic Global raises awareness of caring for our oceans.

Join Oceanic Global's LA Hub Earth Day Beach Cleanup! It is on Sunday, 25th April, from 10 am -12 pm in Playa Del Rey.

Earth Day 2021 Virtual Stage + Festival

Earth Day Initiative is hosting an Earth Day 2021 Virtual Festival. This interactive event is available nationwide. There is a full line-up of speakers and exhibitors, and you can visit virtual booths and chat via video.

The goal of the Earth Day initiative is to give people the opportunity to connect virtually around climate action.

The virtual event will explore issues like green living, community-building around environmental issues, and sustainable business. There will be workshops and discussions on ways to build a better future.

Additionally, there will be a virtual march and rally on the 19th at 3 pm ET.

"Our partners Future Meets Present and Gather have created an incredible and dynamic virtual reality space inspired by 1990s video games where attendees can explore via their own avatar and talk with exhibitors and other attendees via live video chat windows that automatically pop up when avatars approach each other." - Earth Day Initiative.

To show up for the Earth Day 2021 Virtual Stage + Festival this Sunday 18th and Monday 19th April, join and register here.

Earth Day 2021 - Friends of the Desert Mountains

Friends of the Desert Mountains are holding a series of events for Earth Day.

Help restore the land by joining the Invasive Species Removal event held in the Snow Creek area on Saturday, 17th April 2021.

Invasive species are harmful to natural resources such as wildlife and plants. They disrupt natural communities and ecological processes, and by helping remove invasive species, you give a chance for native species to grow.

Friends of the Desert Mountains also have a Milkweeds identification and mapping event in the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. The event is to help the declining Monarch butterfly population by identifying food sources for their caterpillars.

Additionally, there is the one-day clean-up of Coachella Valley Trails also on 17th April.

These events allow you to get out of Los Angeles city and explore nature while contributing to sustaining the environment.

2021 Earth Day Challenge Run/Walk

2021 Earth Day Challenge Run/Walk is a virtual event with runs throughout Los Angeles.

It is the 3rd Annual Earth Day Virtual Challenge. This year's goal is that during April (Earth Day Month) to collectively run the distance of the Equator 24,901 miles at least once around the Equator and hopefully do more!
