Numerous drive-in cinemas are now operating throughout Los Angeles. Some popped up in the last year. They are an excellent socially distanced activity you can do.
Watching movies at the drive-in is a fun activity for the whole family. A classic or a newly released movie on the big screen from the comfort of your own car is entertaining. This socially distanced event is a safe activity during a pandemic, and you don't even need to get dressed up.
If you haven't been to the drive-in this year, this is a must-do activity for this weekend in Los Angeles.

The Drive-in Theater at the Hollywood Roosevelt
The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel offers screenings in their valet car parking lot. At only $45 per car, it is an excellent value for a group. Each ticket comes with complimentary popcorn. Additionally, there are refreshments available.
The Sunset Strip Presents Late-night Drive-in
In the middle of Hollywood's Sunset Strip, each session comes with the option to order food & beverages by the Andaz Hotel. It includes sliders, pizza, salads, and pie. Besides film screenings, there are live shows and special events. Book now for the Oscar watch party on Sunday, April 25, 2021.
Street Food Cinema
This pop-up drive-in in Santa Monica offers classic movies along with gourmet street food and progressive new music. The International cuisines include Filipino bbq, Vietnamese, Mexican, Chinese, and Caribbean.
Marina Drive-in
At Marina del Rey, this waterside cinema offers a great atmosphere in the parking lot at the Marina del Rey public boat launch.
Poolside Dinner & a movie at JW Marriott
This new pop-up cinema, while it's not a drive-in cinema, I have included it as it is my favorite pick for outdoor movies.
JW Marriott offers outdoor seating on the deck of the rooftop pool. There is full bar service, and each ticket includes a two-course meal and popcorn.
Electric Dusk Drive-in
Electric Dusk Drive-in in Glendale is Los Angeles's longest-running pop-up drive-in. Additionally, they have a new location at Santa Monica's Bergamot Station.
Drive-in movie nights at Pizzeria Da Michele, Hollywood
Another top pick is the movie and pizza nights at Pizzeria Da Michele. The best part is that films are free when you order dinner.
Drive-in at the Park
Drive-in at the Park has reopened with two locations. They show movies on Fridays and Saturdays in Culver City and Santa Clarita.
The Plant Drive-in
Regency Theaters: The Plant Drive-in in Van Nuys offers excellent value at only $30 per vehicle.
Cinespia at the Greek, Los Angeles
This pop-up at the parking lot of the Greek Theater in Griffith Park offers classics with the option to have snacks and drinks delivered to your car.
Paramount Drive-in Theater
Paramount Drive-in Theater offers screenings from Friday to Sunday. Tickets are not available online and sold at the entrance on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Mission Tiki Drive-in Theater
Double features are on at this venue at Montclair, San Bernardino County.
Van Buren Drive-in Theater
Offering two movies for only $10 per person, this historic drive-in in Riverside County originally opened in 1964. They screen films nightly, and there is also a snack bar available.
Gardena Cinema
This old-fashioned single-screen stand-alone independent movie theater in Gardena, in South Los Angeles, has been operating since 1946. They are now offering outdoor drive-in movies until it's safe to resume indoors.
Cinelounge Drive-in, Hollywood
Cinelounge offers alternative and independent films. Gourmet flavored popcorn and other snacks are delivered to your car.
Vineland Drive-in, City of Industry
Newly reopened, this permanent drive-in theater offers two sessions nightly and four screens.
Rubidoux Swap Meet and Drive-in, Riverside
With nightly movies, this long-standing drive-in in cinema has a snack bar full of treats. Their original 1948 screen tower is still standing tall, and they are one of the last of the classic drive-in theaters remaining in Southern California.
"You're going to have a blast! We recommend parking the truck backwards so that the tail end is facing the movie screen, that way you can fill the bed of the truck with pillows and blankets while you watch the movie from there.
