    Man wanted after smashing Freeport Police Department door with a rock

    FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Freeport Police are working to identify a man who threw a rock through the doors of the police department on Sunday.

    According to police, the suspect — who was seen wearing a blue jacket with no shirt and dark pants — walked up to the Freeport Police Department and threw the projectile through one of the glass doors.

    He then walked back in the direction he came, in the area of Cherry Avenue and Exchange Street.

    Damage to the public building carries a charge of Criminal Damage to Property.

    Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect, and asks that anyone with information on the assailant’s identity call police or Stateline Area Crime Stoppers at 1-866-TIPS NOW.
