FIRST ALERT: Gradually clearing and turning cooler

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Cooler weather will filter into the area through Wednesday along with clearing skies. Milder weather returns for the end of the week.

TONIGHT

One last surge of moisture will move through the area late this evening and overnight. Skies will remain cloudy as a result. A few showers will be possible at times overnight, but any showers will be mainly light and spotty. As much cooler weather moves in, temperatures will turn considerably cooler with overnight lows dropping into the upper 40s to near 50.

A line of broken showers will move through overnight with the best chances around midnight for Horry County.(WMBF)

WEDNESDAY

Cool high pressure will build into the area on Wednesday. Morning clouds will give way to increasing sunshine as dry air overspreads the area. A gusty north breeze will result in temperatures on the cool side with afternoon highs only in the lower 60s. Wednesday night will turn out clear and quite chilly as overnight readings drop well into the 40s.

REST OF THE WEEK

After a chilly start to the day in the 40s, Thursday will start to see a warming trend as afternoon temperatures rebound into the middle 60s at the beach and near 70 inland.

Much warmer weather arrives by Friday as temperatures reach the lower and middle 70s.

Saturday will be the warmest day with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s and lower 80s. It will turn quite windy as the next cold front begins to approach. That front will spark off scattered showers and thunderstorms by the mid to late afternoon.

A few showers and storms will be possible Saturday afternoon and evening.(WMBF)
