The scam involves a phone call from someone claiming to be Sheriff Andy Simmons or a deputy of MSO. The caller then attempts to have people pay fines over the phone for not showing up for Jury Duty.
Deputies said they would never call anyone and attempt to collect money.
MSO said if anyone receives a call similar to the scam, do not give away personal information or money over the phone.
