Tornado seen by trained weather spotter in Coyne Center
COYNE CENTER, Ill. (KWQC) - A trained weather spotter with the National Weather Service said they saw a tornado in Coyne Center Friday morning. The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to stay clear of the area until emergency crews have ensured it is safe, according to a media release.
NWS to assess storm and tornado damage on Wednesday
The severe weather threat has ended for Tuesday night in our area. There were many wind, hail and even a tornado report in the local area Tuesday. The National Weather Service will review storm reports from today and then likely send out a damage survey crew to hardest hit areas on Wednesday.
’23 Ambrose alum earns Fulbright award
St. Ambrose University alum Daniel Salazar ’23 is a new Fulbright Program finalist, or award winner, and will undertake an English teaching assistantship in Spain. The Fulbright Program is a prestigious international grant that gives students, scholars, and professionals the opportunity to teach and study in more than 140 countries. Fewer than 20% of applicants to the Fulbright program achieve finalist status, according to a Tuesday SAU release.

‘Swatting calls’ hit schools across Iowa
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, swatting calls impacted schools in multiple counties on Friday. Schools in Polk, Henry, Johnson, Hamilton, Dallas, Muscatine, and Delaware Counties all reported instances of “swatting calls” to police. Officials say they are working with the FBI to identify the caller.

Bayer and GMCCI are proud to host our next Business After Hours at the Muscatine Agriculture Learning Center on Tuesday, May 21st from 4 to 6 p.m. A collaboration between MCC, Muscatine Friends of the FFA, Muscatine Community School District and local businesses, this center is a valuable resource for MCC’s agriculture programs and MHS’s agriculture initiatives. It’s also a venue for livestock shows, sales, and various Ag-related events.
