1 killed in single-vehicle crash on Lascassas Pike in Murfreesboro  

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – Murfreesboro police have identified the man who was killed in single-vehicle crash on Lascassas Pike early Sunday morning.

The single-vehicle crash was reported at approximately 5:49 a.m. on Sunday, June 4, at the intersection of Lascassas Pike and Hazelwood Drive.

According to Murfreesboro police, 62-year-old Donnie Preston Beasley was driving a red 1994 Chevrolet 1500 truck on Lascassas Pike when he lost of control, veered off the road and landed upside down.

Authorities reported that it is believed Beasley was speeding. After the crash, the pickup truck caught fire. Officers attempted to rescue Beasley, but the flames were too intense, according to Murfreesboro police.

Murfreesboro Fire Rescue later extinguished the fire and Beasley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lascassas Pike from Clark Boulevard to Northfield Boulevard was closed for hours on Sunday morning as crews worked to clear the scene. The roadway has since reopened.

No other information was immediately released.
